Store defaults
One robots value for every product. Another for every category. Leave Follow Meta Tag empty on the item and this default is used.

Stores → Configuration → Emmo Extensions → Seo No Follow Settings. Under Alternate / Default Meta Tags, set Products Settings and Categories Settings. Those can differ by website and store view. Follow Meta Tag on the item is global. Please Select means use the store value.
Four choices
These are the labels in the Follow Meta Tag dropdown. Magento writes the matching robots meta.
INDEX, FOLLOW
Index HTML page, follow links
Live products and categories you want in search. The usual default.
INDEX, NOFOLLOW
Index HTML page, do not follow links
Keep the URL in the index. Do not treat links on the page as crawl paths.
NOINDEX, FOLLOW
Do not index HTML page, follow links
Thin or duplicate category pages you still want crawled through.
NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW
Do not index HTML page, do not follow links
Test SKUs, private catalogs, pages you do not want crawled further.
Product view and category view
The tag is set on the product page and the category page. CMS pages, search, and checkout keep Magento’s Design → HTML Head robots. Flush Magento cache after you save. If you use a full-page cache or Cloudflare, flush HTML there too, then view source.
Use it when
- Index live products. Noindex test or duplicate SKUs.
- Noindex a thin category without editing every product in it.
- You want one default instead of opening every SKU.
It does not
- No robots.txt rules and no sitemap editor.
- No robots meta on CMS pages or custom URLs.
- No canonical, hreflang, or schema markup.
Check it on a real URL
- 1Enable Emmo_SeoNofollowIndex and run setup:upgrade. Unzip the package as app/code/Emmo/SeoNofollowIndex.
- 2Set Products Settings and Categories Settings, usually Index HTML page, follow links.
- 3On one SKU, set Follow Meta Tag to Do not index HTML page, do not follow links.
- 4Flush Magento cache, and full-page cache or Cloudflare HTML if you use them.
- 5View source. That SKU and a normal product should show different robots tags.
