Magento stores when an account was created, not who created it. With several admins, suppliers, or sales users opening accounts for orders, that gap turns into a support argument. Who Created Customer writes the Magento admin username on the account, or Customer if they registered themselves, and shows it on Customers → All Customers and on Customer View.
Grid first. Customer View shows the same line.
There is no Stores → Configuration screen. Install, upgrade, and flush. Then open Customers → All Customers. On a record, Customer View → Personal Information → Customer Creator.
Add New Customer stores the logged-in admin username. A storefront registration stores Customer. A later edit, login, or order does not replace a value that is already there.
If the customer still has no creator and an admin is in session, the username is saved when that order is submitted. Accounts from before the install stay blank until a qualifying admin create or order path runs.

Customer ViewOpen the record. Personal Information includes the same Customer Creator line.

What gets written
Admin Add New CustomerCustomers → Add New Customer → Save. Creator is the logged-in Magento admin username, for example shezi.

Never overwriteA later edit, login, or order does not replace an existing Customer Creator value. There is no last-edited-by. Creator is the first write only.
Use it when
More than one person opens Magento accounts.
Multiple admins or suppliers create customers for orders.
A conflict lands on “who added this account?”
You want to filter the customer grid by creator.
You need self-signups marked as Customer, separate from staff.
Do not expect
It does not store the Magento role.
No admin role column. That is Who Created Order, a different module.
No last-edited-by. Creator is the first write only.
Accounts that existed before install stay blank until a qualifying admin create or order path runs.
No configuration toggles. It is on after setup:upgrade.
Five steps. Create one test customer.
1Enable Emmo_WhoCreatedCustomer and run setup:upgrade, then cache:flush. Unzip the package as app/code/Emmo/WhoCreatedCustomer.
2Customers → All Customers → Add New Customer. Save as an admin user.
3Back on All Customers, Customer Creator should show that admin username. Filter the column.
4Open the record. Personal Information includes Customer Creator.
5Create a storefront account. The grid should show Customer, not an admin name.
